Coastal Cleanup Needs Volunteers

Volunteers are encouraged to register now for Pasco's Coastal Cleanup, which will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 17 at sites throughout the county. Volunteers are especially needed this year in the Land O'Lakes area. The cleanup is not just for waterways; volunteers pick up trash and debris at school grounds, parks and roads. Volunteers are encouraged to pick a site and reserve a territory to clean up when registering a team. To accommodate people's busy schedules, volunteers are welcome to clean up any day in the week prior to the event and bring the trash collection Sept. 17 to the Sun Trust Bank at the corner of State Road 54 and Osprey Lane in Land O'Lakes. Volunteers can register online at http://pasco.ifas.ufl.edu/fcs or call Betsy Crisp at (813)996-2411, ext. 2456. Business donations of food, door prizes and so on are also needed. For more information about other cleanup locations across Pasco County, call county recycling coordinator, Jennifer Seney at (813) 235-6012, ext. 8041 or (727)847-8041.
